Malachi 3:10-12
10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.
12 And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts.
Q. What is the "Tithe"?
A. The "Tithe" is defined by it's original Hebrew word in Malachi 3:10 that means "Tenth" or "Tenth-part". Therefore, the tithe is 10% of the Sanctified Gross Income.
The Tithe is a part of God's covenant with His people. The Tithe is a Holy thing and should not be used for anything else. If you'll study through scripture, you'll see that the Tithe was never meant as a individual blessing. The Tithe is meant to be a corporate blessing, or a blessing for the whole. In other words, as we covenant with the tithe to support and maintain the House of the Lord, God covenants with us to support and maintain our lives as well.
Blessings pronounced to tithers:
-
There will be meat in the house (Malachi 3:10). This means that not only will there be provision, but that there will be good meat for you to leave with. The word of the Lord will be sure to you as you covenant with the Lord's house.
-
By tithing, we can "prove" God (Malachi 3:10). The word "prove" means "to search out, to examine, to try, to prove" It's God's desire that we search Him out in our lives. Tithing helps us to do that on a greater level. He also said we can examine Him and try Him. Our faith gets built up as we search Him out and try His faithfulness which never ceases.
-
He will "open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it". The actual translation is that God will "cause the floodgates of the heavenlies to be opened and will empty out the source of blessing until all my abundance be exhausted". God's abundance will NEVER be exhausted!
-
He will "rebuke the devourer". What does this mean? First, "he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground". This means there will be no abortions (natural or spiritual). Second, "neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field". This means there will be no miscarriages (natural or spiritual). Psalm 1:3 says "whatsoever he [this means YOU] doeth shall prosper"
-
"...all nations shall call you blessed". The nations will take delight in you. Proverbs 16:7 says, "When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him."
We believe in the covenant of tithing and fully expect that these blessings will come upon you as you covenant with the House of the Lord. |
